FEI backtracking over bute...

This is great to hear, at least there is now time for vets and scientists to scrutinise all of the scientific evidence; hopefully they can formulate a strong case against phenylbutazone.

I don't think the question is whether or not 'bute' is 'performance enhancing' but more concerns the welfare of the horse competing with 'bute' in it's system due to the nature of the drug. If the FEI don't take this into consideration then they are being hypocritical, because not only performance enhancing substances are banned from competition- as bute alters performance and could potentially allow an unfit horse to compete, it has no place in professional competition!

How is a 'clean sport' going to be achieved if more drugs are being 'allowed'?
