I.ve just got a horse who only has an FEI dutch passport.

I'm not much up on this but after a little research am I right in thinking he should have a UK passport as well?

BEF say that the passport can continue to be used but where on earth do I send it to get it changed, I dont read Dutch! lol

Any help appreciated.
 
The horse shouldn't just have an FEI passport as they only last 4 years and used purely for competing internationally. It should also have a breed passport. Is it a KWPN?

Ive emailed BEF as said so hoping they can shed some light.

Who is the UK breed society best to get his passport done with?

His vaccs for the last two years are in it also so would the vet doing this not have known

I was told when a horse gets an FEI passport that is the only passport you should then have, the old one shouldn't be used anymore. Could be wrong though thats just what i got told. as for it being in Dutch i think you just have to live with it.
 
Are you sure it is an FEI passport? They are normally written in English, French and Spanish. He must have another passport as well, to renew the FEI one is very expensive and to have to do it every 4 years....
 
Well it says FEI on it and in very small writing to be revalidated every 4 years, I just found that bit, its in 3 languages, dutch, english and something else.

Where would be best to get a new passport from ?

I did read that after a horse has finished competing he should either no longer have the FEI passport or under some circumstances it can continue to be used.
 
It looks like there was a renewal even 2 renewal stickers on it but the stamps faded, Ive emailed FEI hopefully they can tell me if it is or isnt in date and what to do now.

This is Dolly's FEI Passport. It was issued in the UK so might be slightly different to yours. Look at the bit circled in Green that should say the horses breed society and reg number with that society. You could then contact them for a copy - might be cheaper.

I do also have a ISH passport for her as well.

Alternatively, I've never had a horse registered in my name - not sure if you have to as long as it has a passport.
