Took the youngster to Bissel Wood today for some xcountry schooling!
We took her round the tiny jumps first- they have a circuit of about 10 mini jumps at about 1ft high, but we thought it was wise to do them to start with as she has never even seen a xcountry fence before
Needn't have worried! She loved it- trotted into them, she didn't even look at anything and came back to trot after each jump really easily (in a snaffle and no martingale!!)! This included some mini barrells, a mini trakhena and a log
So then we took her onto the main course, which consists of 3 heights- 2"3ft, 2"9ft and 3"6ft. I was a bit scared
But she jumped the first one nicely (2"3ft), then we jumped some tyres which she flew, then we did a step up, two strides to a step down- she stepped up nicely and then LEAPT off
so did it a few more times untill she actually dropped down
Carried on over the 2"3ft jumps, she was flying and she is SO careful with her front feet! Then we got into it a bit more and we did a couple of the 2"9ft jumps
I was being a bit daring, but she was really enjoying it- bare in mind, I was asking her to jump all of the jumps out of a trot! Which shows she has real scope as she didn't touch a single fence!
Then we jumped a spooky house which we later realised was at the end of the 3"6ft track
but it wasn't that big, just spooky, but she wasn't phased!
Then we got to the coffin (jump ditch jump), showed her the ditch first, then my mum walked over it infront of her and she leapt it
did it a few more times and she got the hang of it and jumped the whole coffin
Then we missed out the water as it is an awful water for youngsters- the waters brown and the entrance to it is really narrow and we didn't want to upset her.
So we carried on round the 2"3ft/2"9ft jumps and she really enjoyed it and didn't stop or dither or look at anything and i am soooo bloody chuffed!
She is the most genuine pony we have owned- she still isn't a novice ride, she doesn't stand still and she can be strong and leaps about a bit, and she gets abit nervous when other horses are around, but she is improving every day, and with more experience she will just get better and better
sorry for the boasting post, i am just so proud as I am the only one who rides her so she really is MY project, so every success we have together is because of the hard work I have put in to her, which makes me feel reallll proud
