Just wondering what Felbrige Showground in West Sussex is like.
I wanted to do some unaffiliated showjumping there.
Is is held indoors or outdoors or in a grass ring?

I think they are beginning there outdoor stuff but they do do indoor stuff to.

I like felbridge they are all really friendly and the classes and course are good too.

The outdoors is on grass.

Theres a few grass rings, one warm up is on sand, one is on grass. Big main ring, smaller side ring and another ring with trees/pond in it. There is an indoor school and an outdoor school but they will hold summer shows on grass. Nice ground, stud up.

In winter warm-up is indoors (20 x 40) and jumping is outside on a surface. Parking on hardstanding but not a lot of room and can be a real pain. Courses good - he is a BSJA course builder.

In summer they jump outside on grass - much more parking avaible too.

What height you jumping? IMO dont worry about your front studs now, sometimes horses take a while to get used to their landing action changing as they 'dig in' they land, puts them off sometimes. Hind studs are good on grass whatever height, saves their hind end from heading off in the wrong direction around corners!

I'm probably doing 2ft9" and 3ft, I did a hunter trial today in the most horrible ground conditions (mud up to the horses knees practically!) and had back studs and my horse jumped fine.
Do they accept entries on the day? I'm only doing it if I don't get into the BE Munstead ODE, as I'm on the waiting list.

They do yes, have a website too, felbridge.net. If you sort your front threads out then you can always bung some in if the grounds grim or if youre in the smaller twistier course rings. I really like it there, hope you go this season. But Im grooming for that ODE too haha

23rd March will probably be in their sand school. When they run affiliated and unaffiliated on the same days is when the unaffiliated is on grass in Ring 3 - but as they don't start BSJA until April I would think you'll be jumping in outdoor school. Also given how wet it has been I don't think there's any chance of them messing up their grass rings yet!

Yes they do accept entries on the day.

I don't think anyone ever enters in advance!! Last time I was there I entered on the day and for a time was the only entry in the 2'9" class. It ended up with about 25 in it.

The do combined training there too which is good practice for BE stuff as they do the BE heights (rather than the BSJA) and the BE tests too. Nice to get the op to practice a few tests on grass!
