Has anyone done/had this? Not sure which is correct.

Ive been going for a while for sessions. Just once a month although at first I did 4 weekly.

It’s very bizarre but I think very helpful in some ways.
Things I don’t realise I do, ways I hold or move myself which are not helpful to riding or life in general really.
She has picked up on things I’d never have noticed I do.
There are obvious and real changes during the session. Ie I’m really stiff and get a lot of pain, she can work on, say my left leg it’s a lot more mobile after she’s done.
It’s really relaxing and gentle small movements.

However the last two sessions I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus the next day.
I just don’t understand it! Today I even have sore feet, she didn’t work on my feet! But I hurt from toe to head 😫
Coincidence or what?

I opened this as I didn’t know what it was, still no wiser, I assume some sort of exercise?
Ummmmm, not really but she does give me exercise moves to carry on with.
It’s like a bit of a cross between gentle Pilates and physio perhaps 🤷‍♀️
I booked it on the reco of my RI and had no idea what to expect at all!

I came across it while doing a weekend course on the Alexander Technique, which although could only be an introduction, was useful.

It would be necessary to have continuing lessons to get the full benefit.

I think it’s too late for me😀😀. Is it working , apart from making you sore
Well it’s making me aware of things like I always tend to have my left foot turned in and my knee which I’m turn rotates my hip (which for years has been bad) so by consciously trying to think about walking short bursts with it turned slightly outward. Feels very odd but it’s so small it’s not really visible if you didn’t know.
I can’t turn my head far to the right, she dies tiny, feels like nothing reparative movements to my shoulder and neck and I can turn significantly further, there’s no denying that at all.

I just can’t figure out why I’m earth I feel like I do after what feels essentially like a very gentle massage at most. 🤷‍♀️

I've used a Feldenkrais practitioner quite a few times, she was more into hands on treatment (she also did a bit of craniosacral) and exercises than about the movement patterns examination I expected but was very effective. I knew of it from a course I did with Balance International, at least twenty years ago, which was all about movement patterns.

Quite normal to feel you ve been hit by a bus after sessions of Feldenkrais , Alexander Technique , or Somatics [ pehraps others also , but those three are quite related ] as your body is rerouting brain to muscle 'pathways'. I trained as an Alec Tech teacher , and although we lay around for what seemed like hours , it was very tiring! It is not a quick fix , but a slow on going process , but very worthwhile , I found.

Oh brilliant thank you!
I feel far more normal today, was a bit worried that I’d have to stop and I do feel like I’ve learnt so much since going.
This lady is very hands on but it’s all so gentle and unobtrusive feeling I couldn’t possibly see how it made me feel like I did the past few times after!
