Fell off my horse for the first time last night. Ive had him since a foal. He's a 5 yr old sec d. I had him broken in last year & has been going really well. So ive been waiting for the forst fall for a while. But I feel quite glad thats it finally happened. Any body else felt like that?
I dont fink he meant to chuck me off. Whilst we were on the common he kept doing little bucks. Managed 2 sit them & then all of a sudden he bolted & was bucking which ended up with me falling off. Once I manged to catch him, he was still unsettled kept kicking out. I thought must have been the dog bothering him but then I saw a stick in his tail. It was a real spikey one so must have kept poking him in the bum. Once I got it out he was fine.

Sorry bit long, just wanted to share that Ive had my first fall off my horse. I fell off other horses but i seem to have been waiting for this one.

poor little fella, with a horse eating stick attatched to him, what choice did he have? glad you found the reason for it though, its always quite frustrationg when you cant work out why theyre being naughty! :)

oh bless him :-) these sticks are nasty scary terrifying things!! at least you were both ok and it hasnt upset either of you!

Bless him. He obviously made you "get off" so the nasty stick couldn't get you to. ;) :p he was protecting you :D
Glad both of you are ok. :)

Glad you're both ok. I think you've done extremely well to get this far without falling off.
I fell off Rosie about 10 million times when she was young! Usually due to her insisting that I get off!
Once 6 times in one afternoon ;)

Oh dear, obviously a terrifying thing having a stick in your tail

I remember my old mare tanking off like a total loon because a bit of her own slobber had flicked up and was just above her eye....so scary he he

yep I waited for almost 2 years to get my fall of my section D.

It didn't hurt at all but he was really upset by it so don't know if he was in shock becuase I suddenly wasn't on him anymore or if before I got him he has been beaten up by someone falling off. Anyway lots of soothing noises and he calmed down and I was back on.

It is a relief isn't it when you realise it doesn't hurt to much.

Glad you are OK! I fell off my new girl for the first time yesterday. First a gas canon went off and then a treeful of horse devouring birds took flight and added to her fright. She reared, bucked and galloped off and I was thrown onto the rock hard paddock. Now Im in hospital with a fractured vertebrae :(( And the doc says it will be 3 months before I can ride again.

OMG, I thought my bruised knee sore. Hope you get better soon.

Not nice is it! :(
I took my first fall on my boy the other week too, he decided that the road looked like a perfect gallop track and bolted! :o (The cheeky bugger) Unfortunately, after head butting the tarmac at quite a speed i then proceeded to skid along the road acquiring lots of lovely scratches on my legs and back just in time for summer! :D

I have to confess it has rather dented my confidence which is really wimpy of me so make sure you get back on ASAP and show whose boss! ;)

Sorry but chuckled big time at this!!

OP glad both you and pony are ok! Me and my boy had a pony eating stick incident a few weeks back and he ended up pretty much sitting in the hedge to get away from it, only prob though was that he then got a pony eating bramble stuck too...! Cue me jumping off, hanging on to the end of the reins and trying to pull said items out of his tail, much fun... not!:D
