I fell off my horse yesterday and didn;t think much of it. But I woke up during the night with pain in my little finger. Sounds pathetic I know, but I just wondered if any of you have had the same: it hurts but I can bend it, but I have to really push it for it to go straight, it seems to want to hang to the side!!! V. funny, just hope it will go back to normal and I;'m not going to the docs for something so little!

Same happened to a friend last year. You should get it looked at. Friend left hers for a few weeks before going to the doctor as it wasn't getting any better. Hospital gave her a special splint with a hinge she had to wear for a couple of months to straighten the finger because it had healed bent and she couldn't straighten it. It's all OK now though.

Hehe.... same thing happened to me! Fell off about 6 weeks ago now and am wondering why my little finger is still a bit sore... but with me it hurts to bend it either side.. when it's straight its fine! I think we need to man up :D lol.

You haven't mentioned it is numb or tingly, which would suggest a dislocated finger.

My guess is you have broken or fractured your finger. Go to some sort of medical place and they'll examine it and probably tape it up. You'll end up with a wonky finger otherwise!!

I had a slightly different riding accident involving my ring finger. It too was bent, and i didnt seek medical advice straight away.
Im now minus a finger........go and get it checked out

I once spent 4 days solid in stilettos and when I eventually took them off I couldn't feel the end 2 toes on one of my feet and one was bent almost at 90 degrees, it clicked when I moved it but I couldn't tell if I'd damaged it cos I couldn't feel it! It's fine now though  These fingers and toes are wimpy little things :o

This happened to me. Little finger ballooned, I could kind of move it but not bend it... After a few weeks it was no better and after much nagging from my OH went to see the GP...who basically said I'd left it too long and to go away !! Four months later, was out on a hack, both horses spooked, kind of jumping on the spot. My mare hit my little finger as it was pointing straight out, the pain was awful.... Got back to the yard and though painful found I could bend it again ! Swelling went down after a couple of weeks, seems I'd dislocated it in the original fall... So I would say from experience, get it checked out sooner rather than later (despite my GP being rubbish)!!

Poor girl that works for my dad fell on gently in the school and hurt her little finger. Went to A and E and was told it was broken so it was strapped to the other one.

It didn't get better and hurt like hell. Eventually she went back to the doc and it turns out she had snapped the tendon connecting her finger to her wrist etc, and as it had been so long they couldn't do much for her. They could have rejoined it if they had seen it within I think it was 4 days or so.

Anyway, she ended up having an op to take a tendon from her other wrist and attach it to her broken tendon and wrist. She had her arm on a board for 8 weeks! And it looked like something from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre - I'd post a pic but you'd vomit  So now she's got a rubbish finger that won't bend or support itself, chronic pain in her tendons and horrific scars. She wish she'd never had it done - and just taken the other option which was amputation of the finger. Horror story I know but my point is - GET IT LOOKED AT!

Good luck :)
