I was in a field with my Highland and we were trotting along when she picked up canter and when I halfhalted she picked up the gear and went full steam ahead.
I then checked her harder and she dropped her head and bucked sending me flying.
I landed on my face and then my neck flipped over landing on my left side.
It took several seconds to move but I wanted to see where Til was. She was high tailing it home but we had roadwork to do.
My heart was in my throat but I saw a car parked up I recognised as a fellow livery. She hopped the fence and grabbed pont who had stopped when she got to the fence.
The entry point is halfway along the field. A long walk down and spitting blood I reunited with pony.
Livery offered to walk us home but I knew we were OK (minus a suspected broken wrist). 20 minutes later we got home and I struggled to untack.
Phoned my partner who got his mum to fetch me. While waiting I cleaned my face up some. Right side of it covered in blood.
Phoned a friend to collect my tack from field and put it away.
A&E were unimpressed I walked and should have Phoned an ambulance. They wheelchair me in, gave me morphine and paracetamol, took bloods, did an ECG and various xrays including chest.
Wrist was broken but it was overlapping so they had 2 people gently stretch my arm while the other put cast on. Thankfully they have me an inhaler of good drugs while they did it.
Feeling very sore, unable to sleep and mouth still bloody.
I've no idea what went wrong. We were headed away from home, saddle not long fitted and we'd had a couple canters previously and she felt fine and normal. She's 21 years old and it's been years since she's bucked so will be getting her checked out.
