I went out for a calm hack, Jasper spooked at something, went backwards, spun round and took off bucking like a wild one! I fell off and hit a fence with my arm which is now quite painful! Nice lady captured wild horse who had simply galloped off back home and was standing next to his field. He's always nappy out on his own but I normally can overcome it, at least hold him back but no chance today. I'm worried this is the start of it now he knows he can get me off? I haven't hacked him out for a while in fields as we've been mainly schooling for dressage but do hack him to my dressage lessons but this is all on the road. Any advice or cheery words please? Do I have to hack him out?! :-(

Poor you!! ((( HUGS ))) for you, hope the arm is just bruised!! With regards to hacking, the more you do it the better he'll be!! Horlicks NEVER hacks out in the RS so only goes out when I ride her on Sats. When I first took her, she was terrible, but now she will hack round the field and not spook at anything... she looks but doesn't spook. Do you have a hacking buddy? You could hack a few times together and then gradually, split up whilst hacking and eventually go on your own!!

Hope your feeling ok, is your arm still hurting, are you sure you've not broken anything?
Is there anybody that can possibly bike out with you, so although your hacking out solo, you have somebody around just to give you that bit of extra comfort and confidence that somebody is with you?

Thanks everyone, It's not broken I don't think just bruised where I fell on it! I'm a bit annoyed really keep thinking I should have done this or that!! Sigh!

Hugs! Hope it gets better soon!

Maybe take him out with another horse? If thats possible. He may have scared himself too so may get more confidence if another one is there too. And then gradually take the other horse away when you both have your confidence back?
