I broke my talus and fibula back in July of this year when my friends youngster reared over backwards ontop of me and I was squished. Wasn't supposed to see my surgeon for another 7 weeks yet, and I was then hoping to get the go ahead to weight bear depending if my xrays were any good

Then on Sunday evening I was hopping and tripped over and banged my bad ankle

Oh boy did it hurt, but held my breath and pretended it was fine as I didn't want to cause worry. Since then I have had 4 really hot baths to see if I could bring out any bruising or swelling - got the slightest puffiness next to my tibia (didn't break anything in this region.... initially!!)

Going to ring my surgeon tomorrow and go get it checked over properly 'just in case'.... I will be so annoyed with myself if I have damaged myself further or prolonged 'this stupid injury' anymore grrrrrrrrh!

As much as I didn't cry through the pain.... I know I will if it's bad news and have to have yet another operation..... trying not to be too pessimistic but not letting myself to get my hopes up either. Hope I don't ruin my OH & family's Christmas from being such a clutz!!!

One of my best mates has Fergie's 'Clumsy' song as the ring tone when I'm calling her - this was before my accident - speaks volumes!!

Oh no! Will keep fingers crossed it's nothing serious. I banged my broken foot a couple of times really badly (good god it hurt!!!) and never told anyone, but luckily it didn't do any more damage and it seemed to heal as well as it ever was going to. You should get it checked though just to be safe.

Let us know what your surgeon says, will keep everything crossed

I know ho you feel!
Due to have the plates/screws removed from my leg in April. Been horrendous worrying about falling over! If I do it could break again!!
I'm due back to the hospital in Jan
I would def get it checked out for piece of mind.
Get well soon x

Hi, Sorry to hear your woes, but glad I'm not the only clumsy one. Magaged to break my wrist (radius) 3 weeks ago leading a quiet mare in !!!! Last week I fell in the conservatory whilst getting up. Tried not to bang my cast and in so doing fell onto the electric panel heater and fused the whole house, than onto a lamp and smashed it. Had to call hubby home from work (not popular) as no lights, heating or cooking ability. Arm was fine though swelled up. Room looked like it had been bombed.

I take hoemeopathic arnica for bruising and swelling and symphytum for healing the bone. Worth a try.

Keep smiling an good luck

Spoke to my surgeon's secretary as he was in theatre all day, she said if I was worried to go to A&E. Rang my physio to cancel my appointment in the morning, and he said not to bother, go in as normal, they will have a look and measure it, and if they're not happy they will send me for an xray! So I have decided to hold off and wait to see what tomorrow brings! I pray for good news!

SomethingorOther - not in the sense it sounds - but I am glad to hear you banged your broken foot a couple of times and nothing come of it - nice to hear success stories, gives me hope!

Thanks OldMare, Gorgeous_George, Snowflake_Pea for your lovely responses!

SarahHugo Oh goodness, how did you manage your break?

I had to have my plate on my fibula removed 18 months early because it decided it wanted to come out!!

My main wound split open after 9 weeks and you could see the metal work in my leg bleuuughhh! If it is any consolation, it was a really quick operation and hardly suffered any 'after effects' as I did the initial operation! The holes in my bone filled back within 6 weeks! One word of advice- pay attention to where you are 'hopping'!

I am the most accident prone and clumsy person EVER *touch wood*! - although Shougy .... you really do come top of the clumsy world with that one! Ouchies!! Were you okay?
