I posted recently looking for a vet in the Durham/Chester-le-Street area and got a few suggestions. However I'm now limited to female vets which seems to rule most of them out except Durham Equine Practice. Does anyone else recommend Durham Equine Practice or are there any other suggestions?

Hi Spark56,
There is always Fran at Dunelm Vets, Gillesgate. But if you are wanting anything serious (ops, scans etc.) you are likely to get referred to Procters out towards Hexham. I am sure they will have at least one female vet on the books.

Thanks Dort, is Dunelm a mixed practice? It's for a vetting so I'd rather go a bit further out to get a dedicated equine vet.

I would reccomend Durham Equine Practice, Nicola has been great in helping me with my boy and think most of the liveries on my yard have now switched to her.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound critical of Dunelm, I just wasn't sure from the other post how much equine work they do and couldn't find a website. I'm being very indecisive and don't know who to choose!

There's a vets surgery in Lanchester, possible Lanchester Vets??, and they have a female vet who is fantastic!!! Storm started bunny hopping in canter at 10 month, due to soreness. She gave him a good look over, diagnosed the problem, and had him 100% again. She was very patient with him and even gave the farmers (a load of blokey blokes who took the chance to flirt with a young blonde vet and wind her up) as much as they gave her :)
It's a pity that Paul Proctor (simply horses, previously young and proctor) isn't a woman as I really can't fault him, he might be able to recommend someone to you though... :)

Would also recommend Durham Equine Practice. We used to live down that way and had Dunelm for jabs etc as they were our nearest but they're not equine specialists and although very good vets I never felt they had the same depth of knowledge. :)
