Hi all!

So at the weekend I managed to fracture my femur in a horsy accident, totally nobody's fault just one of those things! Surgery on Monday and three days later I am itching to get back in the saddle (obviously not happening any time soon!)

Basically I am asking if anyone has had any experience of such an injury and how long it was until they are back in the saddle?

Mine was a simple break, had a metal rod put in and I can weight bare partially and doing physio at home to increase strength etc as much as possible!

My pony is an ex riding school and trust her with my life, so would be happy to get on her as soon as I am able. I am more concerned about getting back into riding, like did anyone with a similiar injury struggle to pick it up again, like jumping position etc? My lower leg position was once upon a time (last sunday) rock solid, so I am keen to get that back!!

Thanks gang :)

I can't say exactly as a different situation but the Physio exercises should mean your muscle strength should come back etc. my daughter had a bad break near her elbow which restricted her bend in her arm. She was initially told she may never get the full over bend she had back again but she did and the full strength within a few months. She was back in her sport in 8 weeks with some restrictions. Though we did hang her off the gym bars to stretch it!!! (She was a gymnast .....) sorry u have had a break :-/

OOoo Ouch! poor you!

Again no personal experience with this but I would add that physio is the key to getting full function back again.
The more you do the better (the way the physio has shown you anyway...!)

Get better soon :)
