fence batteries

I've just purchased a new fence kit (why is a kit inc everything cheaper than just an energiser???) and it comes with 2x 9v batteries.

Am I better running it off those or a car battery???

Also how well do the solar chargers work on car batteries? Access to the field can be difficult and no electric up there, don't want to be traipsing a car battery home to charge too often! lol

If it comes with 2 x 9V batteries I doubt it'll work off a car battery? If it will then yes, because it'll last longer, Get a leisure battery rather than a car battery though, as they are designed for a constant trickle drain & will hold a charge far longer than a standard car battery does.
I have a little solar panel on one of my batteries & that one lasts about half as long again as the ones without. I got mine from a company called Maplin Electronics. They are normally about £20 but every now & then are in offer for about £10.
