Now I know my horse is a wimp and quite daft but his reaction to a removed fencepost this morning verged on hysteria!

Brought him in from the field like a dope on a rope, walked into yard...dope on a rope. Tied him up (to bailer twine thankgod) turned to get the grooming kit and the next thing I know bert is on 2 legs screaming, snorting and absolutely petrifyed!

His nostrils flared and breathing so I though his lungs would explode...I couldn't work out what was wrong....he kept staring at the gate and screaming. Eventually he calmed down and it was only when I was going to the car to get a neck strap I realised a fence post has been removed at the entrance to the yard.

What a completely hysterical reaction, daft sod!

These are the sort of reactions which would have kept prehistoric horse alive. We can't erase the natural instinct to run first and ask questions later. All our bombproof creatures wouldn't have made it past a yearling before a tiger got them for being so laid back.

Well Bert would live to 100 the way he uses the old flight instinct! He actually walked past it cool as a cucumber then tied him 50ft away and he has a heart attack!

My poor little sis came over for a sit on round the village and looked a little concerned after that LOL
