Fencing new paddock - advice? Costs?

We have a section of recycled plastic post and rail which is brilliant stuff but it is more expensive initially than wood post and rail but it doesn't break as easily, horses don't chew it and you don't have to paint it.

Can't remember where we got it from though as hubby ordered it. However we use off set electric fence rope off all our fencing where wood.

Normal steel wire with insulators and mains electric, well earthed and which is kept working correctly is the cheapest and best fence you will buy.

Wise words! And you can run a temporary fence with white tape off it at any point. Mine has been up for over 20 years. Cable tie used white tape to the steel wire to make it visible.

Mains electric, I use polyrope turbo and remote control unit that monitors the fence. Get good quality wooden posts knocked in that will not rot in two years. If you get flush later on and want the look half rounds across the top rail. The labour is the biggest cost of fencing. I worked out that it would be cheaper to buy a post knocker and sell it after but eventually I found someone that charged a fair price. If you can find someone with a bucket on a tractor you can knock the posts in that way.
