Fencman dp350, help please

I've just bought a second hand one of these off ebay, it arrived today and the wires to attach the battery have tape around them top (where they connect to the the energiser),I don't know if this is because they are broken or because they can't be fastened on any other way, does anyone have one of these energisers that they can look at the tell me how these wires actually connect to the energisers. The wire that connects to the fence also has tape half way up it (assume because its broken) and the casing has snapped lower down.

I have a model similar to this and the wires are connected via male/female clips. Easily replaced. If wire that attaches to the fencing is broken this too can be replaced very easily .. To be honest though the seller should have advised if this was working of needed repair.
