He trained & was good friends with my old instructor; my instructor was certainlly very well taught by him & only spoke highly of him, he also appears to be very sympathetic to the horse in his training methos & showed interest in "natural horsemanship" etc!. I think he'd be very near the top of my fantasized list of "who Id have lessons with if...."
I dont think u can dispute that he is a top trainer. His and Maria's results speak for themselves.
The only thing i would say is he is tough. He will expect you to work, and wont want anything but 110% dedication!
If you get a lesson with him, take it, its all experience.

I like tough to be honest... I don't respond well to people being too gentle with me. I was like that all through school too, I worked the hardest for the teachers I most respected.
Is there a minimum rider group that you have to be to train with him?
I already have lessons with a trainer, but the lessons end up being a bit sporadic due to other committments and at the moment things are a bit up in the air. In winter, it would be nice to have my lessons in an indoor arena as driving back soaking wet is never fun. I don't mind getting wet in the slightest as only have an outdoor where I am and school 6 days a week (soon to be schooling 2 horses) without fail.
I have a foal who I would very much like to achieve all of my goals on and would like to be a lot more experienced when it comes to his training. However, my 6 year old mare shows a lot of potential if she would just stay sound
She has got through to the Area Festival Finals in prelim and novice (this is her first year under saddle).
Going off on a tangent here Becky, have you ever considered Joanna Jackson. She is very local to you, its years since I had lessons from her but I always found her to give 110% in every lesson. I also liked the fact that she had never been handed things on a plate due to money. Everything she had she worked hard for. Personally I think she is very talented.
