Well, what a weekend!!! I took Pride to the RC Festival 2007 for the weekend and he was a absolute star
Met up with Druid, Naimhy & 4whitesock (was lovely to see you all again) and had a fab weeeknd.
Just had one class on the Sat, the A.I. SJ, was pretty suspicious about this one. P hasn't been jumping well on grass lately and the last 1m course we did on grass was over 1 year ago and we were eliminated
So we decided to give it ago but at the back of my mind I had made the decision that if we ran into trouble, I would just retire.
He was quite strong in the practice, tanking around on the forehand and using every downhill as an excuse to go faster. BUt after a few practice jumps I just decided to go in, he was an absolute star, probably the best round he has ever jumped with me. Lately i have been wondering if maybe I should slow things down a little with him but this left me in no doubt that he is happy & in flying form. He sailed round the track and got into the JO
Unfortunately I messed up the 1st fence of the JO so we finished on 4 faults, 100% my fault and I was thrilled with him.
Sunday was another scorcher, at 28 degrees and I think he was really starting to feel it; However he finished 2nd in the Ridden Irish Draught Class and got some truely lovely comments from the judges. It turns out one of them later realised what horse he was and spend half and hour telling me all about him as a young horse & a stallion. It was a pleasure.
Our final class was the Open Working Hunter, but I think by this stage he was just too tired and he had 2 rails; to be honest it didnt bother me in the slightest, I felt me gave me 200% all weekend and I couldn't ahve been happier.
So a great weekend all round, lovely to meet some fellow HHO's again and photos will follow very soon
