So after diagnosing mild arthritic changes in my 10yo in his front left fetlock we tried 10 days on metacam and an HA injection. He is only lame on left rein in trot.
He is showing no improvement so we'll be trying tildren and steroid injections.

Had anyone got any success stories? All I hear is doom and gloom. I have only had him a few months. Got off to a great start but then a suspensory injury and now this . I only want to event and jump at a really low level.

My lad has severe arthritis in his spine, hocks and pasturns, he was extremely sore to the point of being unable to pick up his hind feet at all, lame all round and stiff as a board through his middle.
Vet went straight for Tilden and for steroid injections into his spine with 3 months paddock rest. He can now pick up both hind legs, is only intermittently lame on one hind leg and very defiantly can bend through his middle now.
Tbh with mild stuff I'd try 24/7 turnout and see how he got on.

I did post a similar thread last week pre treatment. Now I know a bit more I was hoping for some success stories. I am worried there is just doom and gloom endings and no chance of competing.

I posted about this last week. I was awaiting a vet visit Friday. Mine has (a list) a bone spur, osteo of the Pastern both sides where the collateral ligament attaches. The ligament was damaged too also he has non articular high ringbone and osteo in the fetlock joint itself. Hes 7. Had all of these injections and shockwave. After a frank discussion, , lameness work up. Hes now on exercise prescription and did a ten min walk under saddle today without issue. Its suck it and see. X
