Horse was diagnosed with fetlock arthritis in his right front leg yesterday. I understand that the prognosis is not that great in the long run, but the vet was pretty hopefull that the horse will be able to get back to ridden work at the same level as he was before.

He got steroid injections and we were sent home with a supplement (green lipped mussel). Vet mentioned that nowadays there are several treatment options you can try - she mentioned specifically stem cells and PSGAG.

Anyone here who has or had a horse with fetlock arthritis? How did it go? Has anyone tried the treatments I've mentioned?

No I have tried the treatments you mention I generally use arthimid or a similar gel type product injected into the joint which we combine with steroid into the joint and or osphos or something similar .
We also get the horses really slim if it’s a horse that tends to be a bit heavy .

My horse has coffin joint arthritis - had it for years. Steroid injections were great but the effect wore off gradually after each one - he had 3. I've tried loads of supplements but to no avail. At the time (which was a few years back) vet carried out Platelet Enrichment Plasma treatment, shock wave therapy etc., which had no real affect. The only thing that was reliable was Bute. Actually keeping the horse moving is the best thing for arthritis - as in humans.
