Looking for suggestions, 6 weeks ago my horse went lame. Halfway through a hack he started limping front foot and was picked up and trailered home. The rider presumed he had stood on a stone, while he doesnt normally have any issues his hooves are fairly shallow. Poulticed and stabled and seemed to improve. A week later he was sound in the school but just a little off on concrete.
Farrier came out and found a corn and dug it out. No immediate improvement but he said it may take a while for the bruising to subside.
When vet was out for vaccinations she advised to start walking him out on soft ground as he has spavins and she didnt want him getting stiff. Luckily due to rain we have lots of soft ground and he felt fine and happy to go forward ( he is naturally lazy and nappy) seemed fine on soft ground but uncomfortable on hard.
Another week and one night brought him in and he was reluctant to move forward, lameness much more pronounced. Booked the vet again.
Vet came out and did a work up, he looked terrible hoping on flexion tests and nerve block showed it was the fetlock joint. So had Xrayed. Surprisingly the xrays have came back clear, he is 20 so was expecting some form of arthritis but nothing. Vet has suggested danilon and more rest and will come back end of the week, half way thought and he is still lame on hard surfaces despite 2 danilon a day.
Any ideas?
