My dressage horse had a very exciting gallop around his field on Saturday morning, due to another horse escaping its field. Thankfully the ground was 'giving' and not too wet, however the slide marks are at least 3 feet long and are a shallow 'S' shape!

He came in with what I think is a windfall on the outside of the fetlock. He is prone to windgalls as he's a heavier type but how should I treat it and should I get the vet?

I'm cold hosing, using cold water boots, ice gel, no work etc, but if it doesn't go down I am thinking along the vet route just to be sure. There is no heat in it and he's sound. Any other suggestions?

Thanks all :)

Wingalls sound most likely and as you say very common in large horses. Possibly not something that the vet can help with apart from putting your mind at rest and to be honest all the hosing and cold treatment in the world will not have any effect on them. They will come up and down of their own accord and it seems like when they feel like it.
