Hey All

I got my new pony Saturday :D

She's was fab when i test rode her, now ive got her home, shes quite nervous, mainy in the stable, once she has food she improves.. i know shes still settling in but i really want to take her for a short ride so she isn't out of work..any suggestions or tips to improve nervousness?

I rode her on the roads at her old home and she did not batt an eyelid, tonight i am planning on taking her in the field nowhere near cars :)

I am not a novice however shes my first horse in a few years..She doesnt do anything nasty she just turns aroundwaits for you to head for the stable door and turns back to see where your going

Any suggestions would be great :)

ah bless, its all very strange for horses when they move, I try and think about it as if we were plonked on the london underground or something, we'd be scared and worried. When I got my new horse I left him for a few days before being ridden, did everything very quietly and didnt try to fuss too much really. Just making life nice and pleasant to help them settle. Are there other horses around for her?

Yep there is a pony next door, there in the same field, and 2 large horses in the next field..

She has had a hard life, huge scar across her face where a headcollar has imbedded in her face and numerous other cuts on her face:mad:

I don't exactly ooze confidence myself, i have plenty of friends with horses but the ladies at my yard are sisters and they arn't the most sociable of people :p

Also, im planning on walking her down the road in the near future (leading first off) would i be best with her headcollar and lead or bridle? I don't want to make a big deal about going on the road so she doesn't think why am i doing this?x
