So angry at myself right now.
2 ponies, one been laminitic but has just been allowed an hour out muzzled as he’s doing really well. The others been sick so is enjoying an hour in the field. Got back home, got them both in for the night and commented that both were in a certain place in the field (it’s dark) Mr P said well of course the grain dryer was going today. It tips barley out into the area they were. I had been and back breaking shoveled it all away now realising stupidly that it was used again today.
So even muzzled he will have eaten it 😩
He said you saw the tractors coming in which yes of course I did but didn’t think… ffs
It’s taken so long and he’s done so well. I’m so annoyed at myself. So scared he will be sore again tomorrow

I really hope both ponies are Ok 🤞

But I have to ask as I'm so curious, why was the dryer on today and why was the barley being deposited in the field?

Thank you.
It’s happened before hence I know to go shovel. Not as such a sensitive time tough.
I don’t have any charcoal sadly, how quickly would fat need feeding?

I don’t totally get it. It wasn’t drying they were cleaning grain. There is an area where the excess or stuff they clean out *as I understand gets collected. It has a big metal door so they can drive up to and scoop
It out with a loader and shovel, the door doesn’t quite meet the concrete floor so it spills under like an auto feeder almost.

Can you fence it off with electric fence - then they can still access it when needed, but you won't have the shovelling and greedy ponies being an issue? Hope all is well with them, it must be difficult to get much grain with a muzzle on surely?

That would be the obvious wouldn't it! You honestly would never believe the amount of fencing they have smashed up to get to this area. I just don't use the field in summer which is when the grain driers are usually in action. That's safest. This time caught me out.

How are they both this morning?
Both seem ok thank goodness! It was the laminitic one that worried me most, I'm not sure if it would effect him straight away or take a little longer but so far so good. Thank you for asking!
