lots and lots of people have a problem with what you are saying, and are trying to extract an answer from you. You have given some bizarre answers to the questions, but not actually answered it.

the 'poking fun' is just desperation.

We have had the dictionary definition of pikey. We have had sworn affidavits that it is used without racist intent. We have had queries about the existence of a 'race' of Irish travellers. But you just keep saying 'it's racist because it is'

Okay, if you delve deeply, we're all an ethnic minority.

My grandparents are german, that doesnt make me of german descent though, and neither would i use it to get me by in life. i'm british, i was born in Britain and have british parents... That is my race.

My point was, how can travellers be irish speaking irish travellers when their great great grandparents were (maybe) irish and they don't speak irish. It just confuses me...

and it seems that travellers are the only 'race' to do this, because some of them can use it to their advantage??

I'm not racist, never have been never will be. But I've had some very nasty dealings and experiences with some of these.... so naturally I'll start to question where the definition lies and why I can't claim to be a german council house dwelling person and scream racism when someone upsets me??

But people will always use 'nasty dealings with some of these' excuse. It's like the way people turned on Muslims because of terrorism, when obviously not all are terrorists. Not all Irish Travellers are theives, yet they are all condmened by the actions of a few.
 
Any word can be used in a derogatory way towards a group or race of people. That doesn't, in and of itself, mean that particular word is racist in its own right.

'Pikey' isn't used exclusively for any particular ethnic minority or race - this sets it apart from those offensive words derived specifically from a name of a race. It can be used in a racist way, but so can any other offensive term.

I am PL so just stink on the weekends. Upsets the peeps in M&S though. I am maintaining my basic human right to smell of horse wee an traipse poop around the food hall with hay in my hair on a weekend.

As mentioned before... 'Irish Travellers' is the name of their race - it's not an indication of their nationality.
