Got a few samples of it at the RDS, one of their representatives at the stand said it was good for helping put on weight. I was wondering if anyone on here has used Fibre Beet to help put on weight, if so, did it help at all? I'd be feeding it alongside Gowla Cooked Mix and Baileys OutShine, and ad-lib hay when he's stabled at night and good quality grazing during the day (not sure how long that will last though!).

Fibrebeet is brilliant stuff, I use it for the little fella and he's holding his weight nicely despite the changeable weather we've been experiencing lately. Used it to help him gain weight after he'd been poorly and it did what it says on the packet. Will definitely be buying some more for the winter......it's very economical to use(Luke gets about 250 g dryweight which makes up into a fair sized portion so lasting me ages atm!)

Ooh I will be interested to see the answers to this post aswell as I sometimes struggle to maintain the weight on Baron. I use speedi beet all year round and often wonder if I should use the fibre one instead. If I did would it be pointless feeding him the alfa oil aswell? As I feed the alfa to add bulk and fibre to his feed.

All that is added to Barons at the moment is a scoop of barley, pink powder and oil.

Used it last winter on my 19 year old gelding, he doesn't do very well in winter, so changed him to Fibre Beet and little chaff and mix and he did really well, his condition out of winter was nice and will probably look at it again for him this winter..........

I'm not too sure vicm2509, but if I were you I'd still feed the Alfa Oil and Fibre Beet, on another forum a lady has a Dutch Warmblood that keeps weight on much better when he's on a high fibre diet. Thank you SD10 and Heidi1, sounds like it really does work. Local feed store no longer stocks it though, so I bought a bag of sugar beet pulp pellets instead, I thought it would be worth a try for the moment. I'll be heading to one of their other stockists soon, so I'll buy some there
