My old girl has had her teeth checked today, she has one that is loose but wouldn't let the dentist pull it out and we don't think she'd survive any sedative. She has dropped considerable weight in the last month which she always does coming into winter but we think maybe related to this tooth atm.
Sooo she is struggling to eat hay atm although she is enjoying tucking into it she is quidding it. I have tried redi grass previously and she didn't like it. Anyone any other ideas?
She currently gets calm and condition, slobbermash, senior conditioning mix and alfa a oil (she's not keen on this either)
Thanks

There are quite a few very recent discussions about veterans lacking in teeth so have a read down! My own mare has only six teeth so I know how you feel. I'd drop the chaff completely if she can't eat hay - replace with fast fibre, speedibeet or high fibre nuts all mushed up.

Calm and condition gets very mixed reviews soif you're not sure that works then consider changing as its also quite expensive! Though if it works for your horse then obviously that's great

Fast fibre , veteran vitality and a cheap vet coarse mix but soak it at same time as the others, add a glop of oil too. We did this with the 29 year old tb we used the coarse mix to add a bit of flavour, the vet vitality is soaked in under 10 mins and they love it. Oil is great for calories too
