Does anyone have any experience of Fibretrack as an arena surface? Any comments welcome as we are researching topping up our existing surface and would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance :)

Thanks for the links - sounds like that can only be mixed/put on top of sand? We are wanting to put another surface on our exisiting wood fibre surface, which has been down 6 years and in need of a top up. Carpet fibre seems popular to top up wood fibre with, but I am also looking into other surfaces. It has compacted down realy well and is quite firm, we haven't had any problems with it moving like I know some have. As I say no problems with the wood fibre, but looking for something that will last a bit longer now, not need raking/rolling etc as often and better for jumping bigger tracks.

Hi, have you had any joy finding an alternayive top-up for your arena? We are also looking for exactly the same reasons, even though happy with our woodfibre, it hasn't lasted that long...
Several suppliers have said carpet fibre is fine on top but no one seems to have actually got one we can go and see.
If we didn't like it, it would be a nightmare and 'unremovable' from the woodfibre!

That's a shame as like I said it has worked wonders for our arena, rides like an expensive waxed surface! Had it down for 4 months now and we've had no rain, and its fab, Before our surface was VERY loose and got very deep when jumped on.........not anymore :D

Did you put it down EXACTLY how they told you?

Hi there, we have decided to top up with the original product we had down (woodfibre). It has been down now 6 years, rideable at all times (apart from snow, freeze etc), never gets wet or rides deep, therefore we were reluctant to change. We were thinking of adding the carpet fibres, in fact EasiRide who our surface was off originally are now selling this product, however there are a few things putting me off about it, hence decided to stick with the "tried and tested" wood fibre. Likewise we couldn't find any to visit, or who had had it down long. Know of mplenty who have topped up with woodfibre and satisifed with it. There is a product "Equistride" which is carpet fibre/rubber mix that has been added to woodfibre surfaces, including a large competition centre, however these were all too far to travel to see, but it may be worth you looking into it if you're nearer (google equistride). Also looked into the sand route on top, but we don't have drains and have never had a problem with water and worried a sand mix might alter this. Like I say we have looked at many ins and outs and have opted to stick with a top up off what we have. I would rather keep topping up every 5 years than making an expensive mistake of adding something on top that spoils our set up.
