Fibre type produce as additive to manege surface?

Has anyone added any of these relatively new fibre products to an existing arena? Something like Clopf (martin collins) or turf-float from equestrian direct, felt type stuff that they advertise as making a sand surface more stable.

Any experiences people are willing to share (by PM if that's more appropriate) would be much appreciated.

I'm just looking into actually. I was debating whether to get rubber but this fibre mix seems nicer to me. Most of the agents are doing it now. I am having huge problems with my "just" sand arena riding deep at the mo but I think most sand arenas will in the summer. I have been quoted from Equestrian Direct £300 per bale & you would need 7 bales for a 20x40 arena. They also sell the sand I have & have assured me it will mix in well. I think they do the turf float which I believe Leslie Law had.

My main concern with it, is whether it will come to the surface and subsequently blow away, or when using manege grader/leveller it will all get pulled out? It seems to be quite new on the market and I've yet to find anyone who's put it in!

Speak to the lady at Equestrian Direct, I found her really helpful and informative. There are other agents that do it so ring a couple a see if you get similar advice. I think you need to level it with something slightly different to a sand leveller. They should have a testimonials page on their website or ask them if there's anyone in your area that uses it & go and have a look before you purchase.

I have just added 8 bales of this stuff to my arena. I think it is excellent. An important part of the process is to get someone with a power harrow to harrow it into the top 2-3" of sand. I have had mine down for about 4 months now, and have only had to roll it a few times! If doesn't come to the top or blow away if it is harrowed in. Prices do vary a lot tho!
