I always used to have a bit of a panic as Ziggy horse would decide it was time to come in as soon as he heard any movement on the yard, the field is across the road and there are no windows over looking it.
When he had decided it was in time he would take it out on the others and chase them round.
This was partly why I took him elsewhere to live out for a period, so he stopped being horrible to my ponies!
He’s home and *touch wood way more chilled. I’m two horses down this year sadly but they were the ones he seemed to clash with most.

I still worry though that he may chase the others and with the farm being busy at the moment we installed a cheap camera.
It’s brilliant. I actually had a lie in this morning and could hear tractors around but was able to just check on him on the camera! All happily grazing. I even had coffee and a chilled hour before going out.
Highly recommend!
The positioning isn’t quite right. My gate isn’t really in view but it also needs to be out of Ziggy teeth way so that needs a bit of thinking about but it’s great!

I have a bunch of cameras so I can see out into the fields and in the shelters/stables. Invaluable right now with one on colic surgery recovery. Mine are all solar powered. They run off SIM cards with a low monthly fee so just need 4G connection. Quite the distraction though as I can spend ages watching the shetlands rioting around at high speed!

Its solar powered but has a charging lead also. So I charged it in the house first and apparently the solar panel will keep it topped up- Obviously not had it long enough yet to confirm if thats the case!
Yes as BBP2 says its not on wifi but has a SIM card which so far I've not sorted as it had 7 days free but will need to pay a monthly sub for that.

Out of interest who do you use for your sim card? This camera came with one but the fee's are more expensive than originally stated. I assume I can just buy one form anywhere though as long as it covers my area ok?

I've got mine with Asda at the moment. It's £5 a month I think.

I too have cameras. I check my boys last thing before I go to sleep and also first thing when I've made a cup of tea. As they live out, I normally don't go out until around 9am as I know they are just happily grazing.

I have a mobile router, which runs off a Vodafone SIM and that's connected to most of my cameras, it's just the one in the furthest stable that's too far, so that one has its own SIM. I do have electric for the router the stable cameras, but the field ones are solar.

I got a lebara sim for £1.70 a month I think first 6 months then it will go up to £4.50 but I’m hoping to just switch every so often to keep the fee low. Got a 4g rechargeable camera off Amazon for £30 on sale and it did the job in the stable shed! Tempted to set it up by the field for the summer but might need some waterproofing.

Oh that interesting, thank you!

Check the best coverage for mobile signal in the area. I was very restricted at my old field as a lot of mobile phone signals were poor, so that dictated who i used.
I use a car or leisure battery topped up with a solar panel (could do with a bigger one!)

What camera is it? It looks really clear!

I love mine, the one in my stable has stopped working though for some unknown reason. It is a solar powered one and exactly a year after it was installed it wouldn’t switch on. I thought it was the SIM card must have expired so I got a new one but no luck. I’ve tried charging by hand but can’t get it to do anything, any ideas anyone? I only had it plugged in for an hour but I couldn’t get it to do anything, so has it died it death already? Sorry to hijack post!

If its a reolink try contacting them. They may replace it. Otherwise try removing the battery and putting it back in. You can also re set reolinks. There is a small pin hole that you can press. If it is reolink they have a trouble shooting page on the website or they used too. Dont know about other makes but I have had several replaced by reolink

I got a solar powered camera to put out the front by the lane to over see my egg shed I sell eggs from to passing traffic as they were going missing and no money. The camera was off Temu for £18 and works off my house WiFi. I bought a WiFi booster to help with the range but it's clear and a good sound on it, come on at night too when any movement activates it.

I think it’s an xega I got it as a present, it stopped working exactly one year after I put it up which is what makes it weird. I’ve tried resetting it, haven’t tried taking battery out but it’s fixed to wall and will mean drilling it to get it down. Might be my only option though. I’ve contacting the people through the ubox app and not getting far so far!

It's pretty clear most of the time! If the sun is shining on it or its misty its not great (but i expect that may be the same with any)
Its an Anran 4G LTE security camera- I got it from Ebay. I didn't really put any effort into choosing though so there may be better quality or prices around!
