Field maintenance costs

I'm planning to put in an arena which will entail changing the field lay out.

Does anyone know the per metre cost for the following:

post and rail
ditching

OH wants a total cost of whole project before he gives it the go ahead.

dont know how much ditching ? would be but we paid £12 per metre for post and 3 rail fencing

We were going to put a menage in and found that it would cost £1500 per annum extra in rates as well so we didn't bother.

If you have a friendly farmer they might do it or you? Mine charges £40 an hour plus materials.

Having just had my menage repaired my advise would be to wait until the work is finished as they are messy people with big machines. I would then ask the menage company to complete the fencing work as they will have the machines and materials already there for the menage.

Have you taken into account the planning permission and costs for application? It may also cause you a problem with change of use.

Ditching will probably be charged per hour although if it's not a huge amount and your confident then you could hire a mini digger from your local hire centre.

I'm unsure on the post and rail costs.
