I have rested my paddock for winter it has had aug sep and october off i will be putting my mare in there the 1st of nov there is a lot of grass in there will there be any goodness in that grass or not?x

It depends on the temperatures when you put her in tbh...

If it is still relatively warm...above 5 degrees roughly, there could be some growth but I should think it will be ok especially if it is longer grass.

Is there a specific reason for her not to be allowed any good grass...if so, I would leave it as long as possible.

When I change over to my winter field (in November, after bonfire night), I stop hay completely, unless there's a frost and even so, they put on weight. I wait until after bonfire night due to the reasons Honeypots refers to - still too much goodness. I tried to use the field in October last year and it was still too much for my LGL case.

NO there is no reason she can not go on it i was just wondering how much if any goodness was in it to see if i have to supplement with hay or not? Any more help would be great!
