Field Safe Headcollar???

Is there such a thing as a field safe headcollar and if so how does it 'work'?

The 'ginger beast' is feeling quite fruity at the mo and refused to be caught until 5pm yesterday, and if he carries on like that he's going to wreck his paddock....and drive the YO mad when she can't catch him

yes they have rubber rings on so snap if caught...

IMO, the rubber ring ones are rubbish... they always break from rubbing, rolling or playing!! You can get ones with velcro but haven't tried them or just a thin leather one will break easier than a nylon one..

I use one of the aerborn ones for my mare and it's been pretty good, one of the rings did break but it was when I got it caught on a gate past and kept walking! I just replaced it with a little bit of elastic and it's worked fine since. It's my life line in summer as you get one chance to catch her and its fleeting! Miss it and you might as well go home!

I used one and the headpiece was velcro. I use them when they first go out 24/7 in the summer as Baron has a few weeks where he doesnt like to be caught.

They do work as Baron lost 2 and had no marks on him.

I use the very cheap £10 leather ones from ebay - they'll break as the leather is not good quality should they get really caught up. Mine have now lasted two years though think this winter will be the last as they are starting to fall apart.

I think the ones with rubber rings are designed if like you, you have a horse thats difficult to catch, but the manufacturers dont recommend them for leading in. The one in the link has a vecro strap that separates under pressure. It actually comes with two velcro straps with different separating pressures, so you can decide how robust the headcollar will be! Mine is great, good quality and doesnt rub.
