It also helps prevent the sail effect in high winds (but definitely anchor - I had the roof of one blow away mid-construction. We'd left it overnight in good weather and it still managed to fly off!).Absolutely have 2 doorways so no one gets trapped in a corner
The down pipes of mine go into water troughs, that I also use to rinse feed buckets and dampen feeds (we're self-contained with storage). Grass mats in lightly used areas areas (sides and back of shelter) and in my case old hay under stable mats at the front (mostly under the eaves). We're on livery and not allowed to put down a surface, but I would absolutely hardcore and mat if I could. I have stable mats inside, too. It makes it easier to sweep and do hoof stuff
