Looking for ideas as to what to put on floor in our field shelter. Horse lives out 24/7 so you can imagine how muddy it gets in winter. Last year was a nightmare with all the rain we had. Not sure about rubber matting as it can get slippery when wet. What do others use.

My 2 fixed ones are on big paving slabs round the edges.
1 is filled with tarmac road planings, topped with a thin layer of sand then wood chips on the top.
The other had builders sand levelled in it, then a good layer of woodchips (the last of the Comfy bed - no longer made) on it.
Both have overhangs, one has front guttering, and both also a liberal spread of planings outside too

Never taken out the bedding as not got soggy in past 6 yrs or so - it just gets raked over every so often and occasional bale of bedding chucked on it, poss 2 or 3 a winter :)

The mobile one is just on grass, so has earth/dust floor as it only gets moved twice a year or so.

Thanks meant to say it's mobile one as cant have planning permission for permanent one.

TFF doesn't it get really muddy tho with them coming in and out?

Nope, not with the scalpings down, been down a good number of yrs now :)
In the depths of winter I dont use the mobile shelter, this is for summer use mainly so I wouldn't know about mud getting bad for that one.
