Hi guys, im going to attempt to winter out my 3 hardy horses again this year, 2 faired well last year but the other always looked a bit fed up so we decided that a nice big field shelter for them would do the trick, the base is at the moment dry however im not convinced that it wont get boggy during the winter so i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what i could put down on the floor in the way of bedding or matting that would prevent it getting too bad. any ideas would be appreciated!!

Build it up? Get some decent drainage put in, maybe raise the level a bit the horses won't be put off by going up and down a step.

Hi

I've got a field shelter on order, I'm planning to put some fine mill waste down with a membrane under it which lets water drain down, but stops mud and water coming up and mixing with the mill waste, then I'm going to put down a thickish layer of bark chippings down.
Hope this helps.
