Can anyone recommend anyone who makes good mobile field shelters for a sensible price, ideally under £1000, must be at least 10x12 but would really like one more around 12x14. Must be something solid that will stand up to all the rubbish weather we now get.

Also has anyone tried grass matting/rubber matting in field shelters? Am after something to put on the floor so it doesn't turn into to much of a bog in the winter. Or can suggest anything else that doesn't involve laying concrete to stop it getting really muddy inside?

Thankx

With field shelters I think you get what you pay for. Do you have any local Facebook horse groups? There are often field shelters advertised 2nd hand on ours. Re anti bog, have guttering to take water away from the front. We have used the rubber holey mats with success- They have to go down on good solid ground though. Failing that compacted hard core or road scalping s work well. Again, they need to go down before the area gets poached.

i tried rubber matting on grass, hopeless. Mats flip up, gorund gets uneven.

I now have road plannings with rubber mats on top, absolutely fabulous!!

My 10 x 12 field shelter was from Chart Stables, it is very good quality but was more than your budget.

I've had rubber mats in my field shelter all winter, held up amazingly well, got very wet and boggy outside but inside the ground remained firm and dry, mats didn't move either, even with 2 constantly in and out eating haylage,
Can't help with price but I got my 30ft x12ft from eBay seller for around £2500 ( delivered and erected) Very impressed, is almost a year old and still looks like new, eBay worth a look!

Know someone who does them but they don't offer delivery which is main issue as they are very good quality 12x12 & 12x16 for under £1k, all else fails am having one of them & hoping I can nick someones horsebox for the day! Just seeing if anyone can recommend anyone else :)
Thankx will have a look at road plannings & grass mats.

I use my old rubber matting from previous stables in field shelter. They are thick and heavy and just laid down on level earth. Work fine. We do put some straw on top in cold part of winter and muck out weekly.

Don't think you can get sturdy good quality new field shelter under 1 k personally.
