Advice please!
The last big storm decided to cause rather a lot of havoc & took down pretty much all of my trees (massive fir types, at least 60ft) that provided the majority of shelter for Billy & the donks. Now that I have got it cleared I need to create more shelter but unsure what type would be best. The main shelter is still intact and there are 2 large lelyandi hedges that provide wind break elsewhere.
Same field (5-6 acres) used all year - Winter has Billy & 3 donkeys then over summer the 3 alpacas join them but I use a track system over summer so need to have the shelters along the boundaries.
They all live out 24/7
Plan (see pic) was to extend out the front of the current shelter and create a dry standing area +/- a wind break back wall and then extend the roof on the other side where can place the hay over winter. But not sure if there would be better options as it's been a while since needed to consider any! Not sure if it is cheaper to build or buy these days hence the post.
What types of shelter would you recommend?
Pic of the big gentle giant - hard to believe he's 19 and have had him since was 4 - the reason the shelter needs to have a good height to it!
