Hi All,

Following on from another thread, as I didn't want to hijack that one...!

The Mike Corcoran field shelters were mentioned and the attached link showed the 24x12 field shelter at £775.

Does anyone have any personal experience of this company or can anyone advise what the difference of these field shelters are likely to be as when looking into field shelters last year the average / almost cheapest price I came across for the same size was about £3,000.

Would it just be that these are not made to as high a quality? I'm guessing the old saying 'you get what you pay for' applies...

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Main difference is that they are pent roof not apex - the pent roof is a sloping roof rather than pointed (if you see what I mean) and the roof is box profile tin not black onduline. I prefer the look of my apex roof on my other building but the pent roof was cheaper and also higher at front so more clearance for tractor. You pick up your own building for that price (he helps you load it into trailer) and you put it up (no real plans so good fun !) you also do need to add your own guttering, kick boards (if required) and base (we put terram, hardcore then sleepers on top to secure building to).

I have one of his 24x12 field shelters - At the front it is open 12ft so my haylage guy can tractor bales straight in but enclosed the other end so my small hay bales stay dry.

I have only had it about 6 months but very pleased - friend recommended him and they have had theirs a couple of years and have moved them (taken apart and moved to different location and re-built).

If you are unable to collect and put it up yourself there is a lady on ebay who sells his buildings but will also put them up anywhere in the country so I understand (was tempted but OH put mine up bless him).

I have one of his 12x12 stables, had it well over 2 years now, withstood all this nasty weather we are having, lovely sturdy stable, we have even taken it down and moved it, still strong as ever, would highly recommend, we originally wanted a field shelter, but decided to go for the stable as it wasn't that much more expensive
