I'm looking to get a field shelter this year that I can double up as a stable.
I would ideally like one of the double ones with gates on so that I can shut my 2 boys away separately but I have a feeling the livery owner wont allow as it would be quite big.

Does anyone have a large field shelter / stable that is big enough for 2 ponies?
If so....can I see pics please 😁

This is 16 x 8
The ponies are 14.1hh.
Both of them and a 15.1hh fit in when it's fully open and on occasion I've seen 2 ponies in one half.

Where did you get this from please?
Withington Hill stables, who we also got the other larger field shelter and the L shaped stable block from (you can see the back of that in the pic).

Sadly, it seems that they have very recently and suddenly stopped trading 😬. We've dealt with them since 1986, and would have recommended them 100%.

Field shelters can get a lot of grief from milling horses and need to be at least as strong as stables if not sturdier, mine have stood up to it all very well. That field shelter is my newest, and it's 12 years old.

My 30' x 12' shelter accommodates the 3 horses much better. The IDx can throw her weight around so two entrances/exits are essential.

My ancient one is only about 10x12 and sometimes there is a 16.2, 16.1 and 15.1 all in there together. It’s like sardines. Very sweet. But I’d like it to be larger. If they are friendly enough could they just go in together? My friend sometimes puts 2 friendly ponies (both about 14hh) in one large stable for the night and they seem happy.

I have a few. One converts to stables by pulling a swing divider which is normally clipped to the back of the shelter across the shelter to split it into two and then having stables doors at the front. If you are handy, you can make it yourself. Get the best quality materials you can afford and make sure it has kick boards.

Another one works on the same basis but only has a stable door on one side, the other remains open.

Personally I wouldn't use a gate across the front, all you need is a frustrated or scared horse and they can get hurt. Especially if it is metal. That may just be one of mine though. I have had to make sure she can't get her leg through any field gate.

I rarely convert mine to stables, only ever for a vet visit
