Field storage ideas?

Hi

I have found a field for my horses in the perfect location. It has a large field shelter with space behind it for hay storage which I am going to try and get someone knowledgeable to build a roof using corrugated plastic. The majority of the hay can be kept in a stable by the house if needed, but I am keen to try and not have to walk through the owners garden everyday.

Also need somewhere to store tack/rugs etc. There is a shed, but it is full of the owners garden furniture and I would prefer not to cause hassle by asking them to empty it all!

I have looked everywhere for a second hand shed but no luck. I could splash out on a new one but I'd have no idea how to assemble it.

I will not keep saddles at the field as they won't be insured, I have 3 and will keep all my polo kit at home ready for weekends. But I do want to keep everything I need daily there as its a decent walk from the car to the field.

Any advice from people with just a field for storage/ etc any tips for making things easier.

Many thanks

My friend used an old cattle trailer. It was probably unusable to trasport animals but it was still good for storage. You might be able to pick an old one up quite cheap.

Depends how much you want to spend but keep an eye open for local shed companies. You might be able to pick up an ex-display one and get erection included in the price. I've just bought myself (don't laugh) a massive summerhouse 8 feet by 12 for £500 including erection. It takes about 20 bales easily plus room for rugs, shovels, bins, etc.. Also looks rather nice and not shed like! I could also have got a 6 feet by 7 shed inc erection for £300. This is new/ex-display but I also came across some second hand sheds on my search on gumtree, etc.. You do need hardstanding though ideally to put them on but you might be able to to make do with a dry earth floor.

Or one of those lorry back things. Our local scrap yard had one for sale a while ago. I can't remember the exact price but I don't think it was more than about 300
