field topping cost?

How much per acre is acceptable to be charged for field topping? I have just been charged £120 for about 6 acres, is this about the going rate, it seems a lot.

How long did it take? I would think a charge per hour to be more appropriate.

Just got a 20 acre field done today at £25 per hour costing £150 including all travel time.

I've just had my three acres done at a cost of £65 but that is two paddocks containing chicken runs, veg beds, shelters etc so quite a fiddly job

I guess you could argue that the difference in overheads between topping 3 and 6 acres isnt that massive - eg they still have to travel to you etc..

If I had 6 acres I would have expected the cost to be less than £120 but probably not hugely less, maybe about the £100 mark.

My husband has been charging £30 for 3 acres. Obviously 1 acre would still be same price to make in worthwhile re travelling and effort.

Our contractors have a minimium charge of £100 plus VAT so that sound correct. Costs per acre would probably be £10 - £14 if you had plenty of acres.

I paid £70 for 5 acres. Four separate paddocks with trees etc in them so quite fiddly, I think it took him about 1 1/2 hours.
