Just out of interest, do any of you rake up the cuttings after having your field topped? Some of my grass was quite long so I'm raking the whole field before horses are allowed to go back on it. I've heard many people say they just leave it though.

I left mine for a month. The ponies are just starting to go on it now for a few hours each day building up to going on it for winter. Most of mine had blown away etc or just completely dried up and the new grass grew up through it . Have had no problems :)

I left it, all of it blew away over the course of a month but it was reasonably dry weather at the time. If we get a lot of rain then I would imagine it would clump up a bit and cause the grass below to die

Personally I'd risk it and leave it though
