Field WWYD Not really difficult.

I think if you already knew and got on with the people at the “new” option, the land drained well and the place was better maintained then it probably would be worth further investigation.

If it’s another shot in the dark with random strangers on poorly draining clay then probably not worth the extra money & distance (although less acreage will normally mean less grass and so less need for strip grazing?)

Agree that TB owner needs to get off her arse and look after her own horse in the wind & rain rather than expecting any of the rest of you to do it.
TB owner currently on holiday in France!

What a nightmare. I'd definitely look for elsewhere. Is there somewhere like a livery yard you can go to until you find sole rent premises that you will have control over.

So the tb owner has just gone overseas for a foreign holiday and left nobody specifically looking after her horse while she's away?

It all sounds like a shambles.

Shouldn't you be paying the owner directly? What exactly is the arrangement with the owner? It sounds like everything is done through the TB's owner who is living it up in France as we speak. Who knows what the owner really thinks about anything? I wouldn't take the TB's owner's word on anything. She probably lies through her teeth.

No wonder you are having a hard time of things, pistolpete.

The TB’s owner isn’t the the field manager. She’s someone else also a PITA. The field owner has never showed his face in the 4.5 years I’ve been there! Apparently his daughter rents the fields behind ours so if anything happens to our manager the daughter will inherit the field so no point trying to play the long game either!

The person you rent the field from has a duty of care to you as liveries ( so safe, secure fencing as an absolute miminum), and to people using the footpath ( appropriate insurance, possibly fencing it off to keep walkers and horses seperate?) and the TB owner had no more say in what goes on than any of the rest of you... The TB's owner presumably asked the rest of you to care for her horse while she's away, or has she just assumed you'll all pitch in? What are the daughters fields like? Would it be possible to ask her if you ( and possibly your horse's bestie's owner) could rent a field from her instead?

No space with daughter T the moment. Would also cause ructions with field woman big time! Her and the daughter don’t get on! Surprise surprise! TB’s owner just gave us dates she’d be away! She does normally do morning hat to be fair to her but I don’t want mine having hay!

And now I’ve had a friend request on Facebook from who i presume is new livery! Must be field owner has given my name. Rude! Facebook is where I share my happy stuff. I certainly don’t have people I don’t know who I may end up not liking. Grrr.

You can accept the friendship request but block them from seeing your posts, or just decline the request, or alternatively, do nothing about it, and claim not to have seen it should they ask ...

Maybe give the new livery a chance? They may be a nice person? Its not their fault the owner is not being sensible about the field. Just see how it goes. I know its not ideal bur if you go in to.it thinking they will be horrible and you wont get on its going to be a bad start.
You have to stay til you find something better so try to make the best of it. I know its not easy but you will just make yourself miserable.

This is so true. I keep having a chat with myself that she could be an asset. Just fed up.

Totally ironically YO has remade the exact paddock she made me take down a month ago! For the new horse. At least he won’t be chucked straight into ours.
