Vet for steroid cream and then centreban cream has sorter my mares legs out. Not a scab in sight and no feeds/supplements to help the skin, she lives off grass and fresh air

Intrasite gel is great to use for sensitive skin where it’s already scabbed/sore, and Aloe Vera for dry skin.
I had a lot of skin issues with my mare, and actually found she got worse with supplements such as linseed.
She’s been clear for over 2 years since I stopped feeding anything other than hay and grass, and a sprig of mint as a treat.
Baileys lo cal brought her out in scabby heels within 3 days of her getting it. Linseed dried her skin so it went very flakey. Alfalfa nearly killed her with lymphangitis, twice. I did a lot of experiments over the 2 years it took to get to the bottom of her issues!

Thought I'd do an update.
She's been on linseed for a fair while now and I honestly can't see or feel any difference in her skin in general so she will come off that.
We've done pig oil and sulphur and I'd like to think we've seen some good progress. Initially we were putting it on twice a day but with the hot weather it's just been in the evenings.
I've sent these photos (taken this morning) to my vet, I still feel we have a way to go with the near fore but that it's going in the right direction. They still look sore but when compared to the original photos from a few weeks ago I hope I'm not alone in feeling pleased with how they're looking now.

Happy update. Within a week of moving yards her knees have healed up completely.
I think it was her bedding causing the problem - her knees got a lot worse within a few weeks of going onto it and cleared up within a week off it.
She used to lay down every night and the rest of her coat got thick with grease too, and again she is now pretty shiny and feels much less greasy (just hideously muddy instead!)
So for whatever reason that bedding obviously just didn't agree with her.
It's the only conclusion I can come to anyway!
They're still quite pink here but not scabby but the pinkness has now settled a week on.

Farriers Mallanders/sallanders cream worked best for my cob, but it would be application every other day, keep his feathers clipped and keep dry if possible. I would also carefully comb out the loose scabs. Wnen I made a coment to the vet about it she had never heard of it!

My cob gets mallenders on one leg. We tried a variety of things & nothing helped but since leaving it with the feather cut quite short it has got a lot better. We gently brush away any dry bits & that's all. I realise though every horse is different & different things work for some.

I was using easy pack miscanthus. Prior to that she'd been on wood pellets no problem. (I swapped onto miscanthus - ironically enough - as wood pellets get so dusty over summer)
She's now living out so no bedding at all.
I don't think it's the change in grazing as we moved fields whilst at the old yard and there was no change.
