Well you may remember me posting a while ago about my patterdale attacking our lab pup. Well it got slightly worse... he only ever went for her in the utility room where they all slept so presuming its a battle of whos who in the pack etc. anyway, they were out in the garden ambling about (all 3) and pup started having a run around and playing about. The patterdale started watching her with a horrid look in his eye. Before I could distract him he took off after the pup proper coursed her round the garden (large garden), pup starts screaming (wrong thing to do when you have a terrier on your tail) and patterdale jumps on her and tries to bite. I manage to seperately and shut him out the house. Pup was fine but I didn't like the way it happened. I now muzzle him when they're together and although he hasn't gone for her again he still looks at her as if to say you're mine if I want but I say no very sharply and he'll slink away. Sorry for the long post, thoughts please! Will they ever get on??!!

Who knows he may get better as she gets older (my JRT isn't a fan of pups - but avoids rather than attacks them. Though he does get jealous if I cuddle them and I have to grab him as I put them back down as he is grumbly then, but fine once they are on the floor and away from me).

Unfortunately some Patts seem to turn - parents have one who always came out with me and my terrier but one day just decided any other dog we met was fair game including mine on occasions. She has days when will play happily then others when play turns to full blown scrap! Maybe he is just trying to put pup in place for the pecking order
