Well for those of you who remember my previous posts regarding my patterdale attacking the lab puppy I thought I'd call in with an update. Well, good news! All has been going ok, if you remember the pat was going on holiday to my bil and possibly staying there if he got on ok. He got on great and they loved him but decided they couldn't offer the commitment they thought a dog would need. So we had him back and actually we really missed him and we were so glad to have him home. But, no more attacks. We have never left the two dogs alone together, the pat is in a crate in the utility room with the other two dogs (he is very comfortable in his crate) and I have worked on his training so he will come to me immediately if I get any inkling of any grumpystartings. The lab pup (who is now 8 months so much bigger) steers well clear but luckily gets on fine with other terrier and much relief is fine with all other dogs ( thought she might have some issues after being attacked). The pat seems much happier, he is a lot calmer and VERY responsive to me and actually a bit scared of the lab so doesn't go near. Wondering if we just spend the rest of their lives like this or attempt to let them be together in neutral situations. Although very aware of the damage a pat can do, the lab is now pretty much fully grown and perhaps able to withstand a couple of spats? Suggestions? If you've got this far..
