My two male (un-neutered) Sporting Lucas Terriers had another major fight tonight - both now very sore and sorry for themselves. It usually kicks of over which one is going to go through the door into the garden first and is pretty nasty. Can anyone suggest anything apart from neutering? Its just that they are both registered as stud dogs, and there aren't that many Sporting Lucas terriers about. I would also hate to get them neutered and find that it didn't solve the problem! They had their last bad fight about Xmas time, so its not an everyday occurance, but even once a month is far to frequent.

Seperate them, only have one dog in each room at a time, therefore only needing one dog to walk through door at once, so no 'alpha' male behaviour.

Not a nice situation to be in... you wouldn't needto get BOTH neutered just one may solve the issue.

I would start seperating them when you want to let them out,i do this with my 2 terriers,i put one in the kitchen whilst i let the other one out, i also do this when they go in the crate in the car,i never let them go together as they have a bit of a bundle too. The fights are relatively frequent really, have you thought of getting one done and leaving the other entire? that works sometimes,i'd get the not so dominant one done,we did it with our 2 collie brothers aas they used to fight so much they'd be blood up the walls when we came home if they were left. It brings the desire to compete down.
