My 20 month old filly went to her new home yesterday. I'd had her since she was 5 months old so it was very sad to see her go. She's gone to a lovely family with 2 girls so she should get lots of fuss and attention, which is exactly what I wanted for her. I went with her to her new home and my only concern is that I had her in a 5 acres field with plenty of grass, shared with 2 other young horses to play with. A huge field shelter with access to hay, mineral and salt licks, a mirror to gaze in and a treat ball to kick about.

At her new home she's in a tiny paddock which is just mud, no grass at all and a miniature shetland for company. I'm sure they will put hay out for her but I'm worried that she's used to having her open free space and things to play with/munch on.

Will really miss her :(

no reason why she shouldnt do well. If you are concerned about her not being looked after properly then why did you sell her to the buyers?

It is not a case of her not being looked after properly at all! It's a case of her going from a huge field to a tiny field and her adapting to that change!

Hope it all goes well for her.

Have you loaned her or sold her?

I loaned my youngster out as a companion to a friend for 8 months when he was 2 - he adapted very quickly to the change of scenery and to his new friend!

Hi, hope she does well. :)

My 3 yr old came to me from a large field and she has settled and is very content in her little paddock. Our quarantine paddock was muddy and she had no companion for the first 2 weeks after being in with 9 others and she adjusted far better than anyone thought.

Thanks for the replies, it has given me peace of mind knowing how well your youngsters settled. She's a pretty tough cookie of a pony I would say, so I'm sure she'll be fine, I'm just a worrier!! She is sold, but she's close by and I have the invitation to visit whenever so that's nice :)
