Hi all,

Ive just purchased a 3yr old filly, who arrived from Ireland Friday morning.
She is a bit tetchy with her hinds, more so off hind (tried to swipe me a couple of times) than the near.

She went out for first time today, but when I brought her in I noticed this fluidy sack, say a hand size just in front of her teats, she wasn't particularly happy with me touching it... Lots of tail swishing & stepping away it was quite warm.

Has anybody had experience with this before? I will check on it first thing see if it's any bigger / or changed before I make the decision to call the vet.

Many thanks.

Don't know what it is but some of my mares have it and as far as i know its normal. If it was a hernia it would be a little bit further down.

One of my mares has what sounds like this, and with her it's fluid collection related to her being overweight.
I'd get a vet to check yours anyway as there are some sinister things that would need to be eliminated in that area. Most likely that it's nothing to worry about but you need a vet's 'eye' to examine it to be sure.

Any pictures? My mare had similar when she was in foal, Odema, far more pronounced when standing around not moving,
could it have been caused by standing on the boat? Have you had her vetted?, id be getting the vet out anyway
to give her the once over if she has just come to you off the boat!
